The MechaSkunk Store - Modeling Materials

These modeling materials are useful in creating various details within a model kit, or helping you to display your model kit. There are clear acrylic rods, great for recreating ducts and piping, and can be painted - or you can use them to support your model. There's another entry in the Mechaskunk Balls line - these are polystyrene balls which can be cut/glued/sanded/painted just like your injection molded model kits, and can be used to recreate the hip joints on say a Gundam Mk II, or anything else that may need a perfectly round sphere as a base. In the future, there will also be brass mesh, great for covering engines in military models. A new addition is the line of acrylic ball joints from Hobby Base - quite possibly the best ball joints available!

Just a general note about the springs - they come to me with a very slight oily coating, to help prevent rust (piano wire = steel). So, before using them, the springs should be cleaned in some cleaning fluid - alcohol, paint thinner, whatever you have lying around. Once cleaned, they should be painted at least with a clear coat, to prevent rust from forming (unless that's what you want to happen!).
